Dating a non practicing muslim
The issue is whether we believe in what Allah has sent down in totality, and whether our lack of fulfillment of anything we have been commanded by Allah is due to our lack of belief in those things.The other issue that I see from your question pertains to how we are supposed to choose a spouse.
He must also avoid that which has been forbidden, such as zina (unlawful sexual relations), riba (usury or interest), drinking alcohol, disobeying parents, lying, treachery, consuming people’s wealth unlawfully and other forbidden things. Whoever adheres to that will be close to Allaah and beloved to Him, and is promised admittance to Paradise and being honoured by Him.
Now before I get into this, I’m sure a lot of people may have the opinion that it is probably better to date a non-Muslim than a Muslim girl/guy because then you aren’t causing another Muslim to sin.
On paper that all sounds really nice and altruistic but let’s not pretend that that is the reason you are dating a non-Muslim.
So this is a pretty common thing nowadays with Muslims and dating.
It used to just be in areas where there wasn’t a big population of Muslims and kids just lost their way but now even in bigger Muslim communities you see Muslims and non-Muslims dating.
